the price of truth!

i want to talk about this:

I could talk about this as well:
which by the way is my favorite topic of the past few months!

But lets just stick to the first one believe it or not an Iranian news paper got banned from publishing further issues by the Iranian ministry JUST because of that!
you may have no idea what this is about so let me give you a short background.
twenty something years ago Iran fought with Iraq for 8 years and back then the fighters stood in the same order as in the picture and helped each other to tie their head bands.
but this time as the world is hearing the whispers of Israel attacking Iran this cartoon is telling the real story of Iranian lives and that's probably why the paper got banned.
every time the war topic comes up in Iran the Iranian government says that we have no fear and that people would still go and make sacrifices just like when they did so during the war with Iraq.
but the real question is will they?
as it's shown in the cartoon this time they are covering their eyes to avoid the truth in front of their eyes!
there are dozens of points i want to talk about but lets just talk about a couple of them!
first: Yes! that's how freedom is in some countries!
second: Newspapers can have such a huge influence on people that sometimes it makes the rulers afraid!

I'll let you know it a couple of minutes!

I always had a personal interest for commercials they really pulled my attraction.
i believe there are so many different points that make commercials a very good way of sharing ideas with audience.
and also it can be a good way to make people be aware of issues and facts like this video:

over years lots of campaigns made commercials to either defend or publicize their ideas.
sometimes they have such affects on audience that people start showing reactions to them.
like commercials about wearing seat belts

some of these commercials are truly touching and makes us think about where we stand in our lives.
but some of them are more funny

but at the end advertising can have a strong influence on people... they can give important messages in a minute or two.

break the freakin' TABOO!

She is a great actress specially when it comes to Persian speaking movies!
she was the first Iranian actress who had the opportunity to cooperate with a great Hollywood cast and crew in the movies "The body of lies" and when she came back to Iran the government banned her from traveling to foreign countries...! i guess that was the price to play as Leonardo DiCaprio lover!
so now you may think that what all these things  have to do with the game we played taboo?
I decided to talk about her because she broke a huge taboo by participating in this video

in middle east specially in Muslim societies such as Iran naked women are not acceptable AT ALL!
so she basically broke the taboo by showing her body in this video... she may have risked lots of things by this decision but she also showed that there's no taboo that can not break!

love me or i'll eat you!

he used to entertain people.
left his job because they killed his partner.
who are THEY?
who was his friend?
so basically his friend was a monkey!
and he came to work for some people who were the same as those who killed his monkey....
it was chaotic: the combination of love, fear, a girl who was technically blind and the stairs....!

sometimes you'd better not to run away!!

cause you'll end up facing something like this:
and it's true!
this movie showed different ways of people reactions during a rough time.
and i have no idea why but this movie reminded me of a quote from an other movie:

Teddy Daniels: You know, this place makes me wonder.
Chuck Aule: Yeah, what that, boss? Teddy Daniels: Which would be worse - to live as a monster, or to die as a good man?
for me the characters in the movie Delicatessen where symbols of people in real life and how each group would act when the hard times come.... self centered ones who do every thing to survive, weak ones who just live a miserable life under the shadow of the first group, the ones who leave the society and become more and more departed from others and those who still try to love life and look at it in a beautiful way... those who think simple and those who give meaning to their lives....
but the one group that really makes me wonder are kids.... people who have no idea about life and do whatever they see, people who build their believes based on what they see
and people who give away their innocence life for what they think is the only way to survive...... 's

attitude change or.... my freaking life is change by your speech sir!

it's not a theory....for me it's a fact!
from what the Taboo game showed me we should talk about the things that the topics reminds us of... and for this situation i will just talk about a personal experience.
as a teenager there was a huge dilemma in my life between what was humanity and what was not, and at the age of 13 when i first got to face Iranian society things got even more complicated...
let me tell you something first: Iranian citizens are different from the government! try to remind that to yourselves so the next time someone asked you about terrorism you can say the Iranian GOVERNMENT not just Iran____!
the speech of the US in United Nations can clear lots of issues of humanity... issues that Iranian teenagers deal with way sooner than they have to......
as it is said in the speech Iranians have a history of seven thousand years which makes their culture very unique.... they are innocent people in search of peace!
what i learned growing up in two different societies is that disrespecting others believes is not a good thing, judging people from what they come from is not a good thing and so on...
but these are not the big deals
the bigger deal is innocent people dying OVER these believes........ like what happened in Libya or Turkey and like what is happening for almost a year in Syria and like what is happening in Iran for over 33 years....
i can go on and and talk about Iranian social situation but i know i can never make you aware of the real issue it's something you should experience to know!

believe in what you BELIEVE in....

let's write a review about this movie:
i can go on and talk about how the directing was or the acting and all the perfect parts and all the weak parts, the cinematography etc... but instead i'll talk about only one thing
HOPE
for me there are two different types of people who go to the movies those who just want to spend time in a dark room and those who look for some meaning beyond the pictures in the big screen.
if you ask about this movie from the first group the best answer you get would be (SPOILER) poor man who lost his wife during the alien attack and killed his own sun to protect him and survived the whole thing at the end.....

now take a look at this:

yes! at first all you can see will be aliens attacking the world and people trying to survive....
it's a battle between people with different believes trying to get out of a living hell.... what they think may be wrong but what they believe in will make them go through it all....
now ask the same question from the second group and you'll probably end up with similar answers such as Never loose hope!
80-85% of audience think they are watching a sci-fi until the last 5 minutes of the movie....
some may just cry for the poor guy....
and some cant think about anything else but the giant monster at the end.....
but the real message for me was to never loose hope and have be faithful....
and this is the OST.... and yes it's the same to the one in baraka!

Genre:...Black Comedy....END OF DISCUSSION!

I'm a movie freak! so there may be lots of movies that I'm crazy about but others haven't even heard of!
so it's OK if you've never heard of this movie!..........The King Of Comedy! and yes! it's a Martin Scorsese movie!

Those who THINK they know Martin Scorsese may say that he's just able to turn some certain scripts to masterpieces like 'Good fellas' or 'Taxi driver' or 'The departed'. So they'll be shocked when they see this one: Jerry Lewis in a Scorsese movie!

by searching online you'll find only two genres for this movie: comedy and drama.... but basically, it's almost none of them! i also checked some books ( yes! i check books for a movie genre when it comes to a Scorsese movie!) but i could only find drama and comedy!
THE KING OF COMEDY IS A BLACK COMEDY!
it's not like other Scorsese movies that we can see the wild streets of New York where Italians and Irish guys bring all the violence and sexuality to the movies...
the king of comedy is a beautiful portrait of beautiful lives in a painful unfair world... where you can SEE the people screaming instead of hearing them...
so when a movie is called comedy it should make us laugh or at least that what almost all of us expect! so that's why i say it's not a comedy! it's a black comedy!
